When the window on the passenger side door is not completely up, it makes a loud noise when I shut the door. When I shut the door with the window partially or all the way down it sounds like loose glass, or a loud rattle kind of noise...kind of sounds like the window is banging up against something when I shut the door.
It doesn't do it much on the driver's side. I'm wondering what the problem is? Are the window guides out of adjustment maybe? Loose window? Something not right in there? Anyone else have this problem?
I just fixed a rattle in my passengers door. It was caused by a bolt that was not tighten properly when I had the door repainted due to being keyed. It took me about 1/2 a hour to do, once you have the screws out you slide the panel up, they don't have those push pins like the old ones.
I recall others complaining about loose/rattling windows in their Ranger and the window track(s) were to blame. Might want to think about that while your trobleshooting.
Thanks guys. That is basically what I really wanted to know...just if it was a common problem or not. Since it sounds fairly common, I guess it's just the nature of the Ranger. If it turned out that my specific truck had the problem I was going to look into fixing it. It doesn't seem to really affect the operation of the window (except I occasionally hear a pop as the window slides upward)...but basically it still works so I can live with the noise since it's a common issue. Thanks again.
