302 swap
74 302 from ford 150 going into 1980 ford ranger 150. I need an oil pan fro a 302 that has dipstick in the panand the pan must have the "oil well" in the rear/closest to transmission to even begin to make this backyard project work...in the mean time both motors arte out and side by side until I figure this out. Also any issue with putting the 1980 distributor in the 1974 block. ???

They make the different pans, front sump/rear sump, usually ones for a car and the other is for a truck. Call Summit or even Ford and you should be able to get exactly what you need. Try the junk yards, there were a lot of 302 in the 1/2 tons.

Count the teeth on the dist. gear; If they have the same number of teeth then I don't see why it wouldn't work.
