1974 302

Putting this motor into my 1980 ford ranger 150 that has auto trans.
1974 302 has about 70,000 miles on it.

Using my trans and flywheel.

both motors are out.

74 is on engine stand.

had to spin oil pans to accomodate my 1980 deep portion to back/cross member issue that would not allow using 1974 front deep type oil pan.

nNow need to find a 302 oil pan that has a built in dipstick since 74 was in the timing chain cover and 80 went through block, but since plan on reversing pans and changing oil pump feeder tubes i need an oil pan that has a built in dip stick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
any help, suggestions, ideas ????

Are the seals and timing chain and gear difficult for first timers??

The rear seal directions in manuals talk about loosing caps , etc 1/32, etc.and precise use of gasket sealers, etc.

what brand of gaskets and seals ???
Proclaimer99(No Email Addresses In Posts!)

plan on swapping : exhaust manifolds, distributor

timing chain has a little play.

wondering if my new 1980 chain and gears would work on 74 motor.

told to maybe address front and rear seals while it is out.

Any input or suggestions ????
