Which Shotgun?

Gonna buy myself a birthday present.

Looking at Browning Gold Stalker or Beretta Xtrema 2. Leaning really hard to the Beretta. Even though it costs about 40% more.

Both 12 gage with synthetic / composite stock. 26 inch barrel.

Anyone played with these?

My favorite has always been the one when you pull the trigger it goes boom, and three Quails drop from the sky.

edit)

I do have a very old Sears pump action with a modified choke that fits me perfectly, and is dead on.
A rifle is one thing, and a shotgun is another. The latter has to fit YOU comfortably. Just because it cost alot, does not make it a good gun. JMO

I tell you what, I shoot a remington 1187 and they cannot be beat. Some of my hunting buddies got Beretta fever and all bought Beretta's. But you know what, they do not kill any more ducks than I do. To me the Beretta is more of a status symbol than anything else, at least it is among these guys. The 1187 is much improved over the 1100 and will not let you down if you go with one.

I shoot a Mossberg 500, definitely not the most expensive gun out there but then if it goes boom everytime you pull the trigger and you hit what you're aiming at what more could you want?

Now excuse me I'm going to go smoke a domestic stick of flavored tobacco.

You can always get a Ruger Red Label. I have a friend that has one and it's a great shotgun.

I used to shoot competition skeet, and your comment on fit is sooo true. That said, a competent gunsmith can help adapt a gun to your fit.

The low recoil on the Beretta would seem to do away with much of the problem though.

I have a Rem 11-87 Contour Lightning and it is a great gun. I would bet that over 10,000 rounds have been thru her. Don't want to retire her but, she needs a rest. I also have a Ruger Red Label. Again, a great shotgun but, alas, I need to reduce the kick on my bad shoulder...

The Beretta Xterma 2 reviews has the recoil a nothing short of amazing and the comfort is supposed to be awesome as well but, comfort is relative to the shooter. I also have Browning a generally like them. I thought I wanted a Gold Stalker for quite awhile until I read the reviews and it appears there have been some jamming issues. When defending myself against the dreaded Taliban Dove Birds, I can ill-afford a jammed gun. But the Stalker certainly has it's cheerleaders as well.

I sometimes think of replacing my old 1100, but I ask myself if a new gun would be more reliable and get more birds ...... the answer always comes back "No". Having said that, I was at the gun store today and felt some temptation.

If you have a bad shoulder then you should got with the Beretta. The reduced recoil would be well worth the price to your shoulder. But what do I know, I have a Mossberg 590.

check out the remington CTI110 it's a awsome auto loader with bottom eject, ever been hit by a ejected shell from your buddies gun in a duck blind? it sucks. it's rather pricey at about 1300.00$

I am extremely biased on scatter guns. I love benelli.

check out my personal favorite http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/m4.tpl

Go hold one before you pass judgement on em.

I have to say that the lack of recoil on that beretta is very impressive but, I disslike the fact that it only has a 3" chamber. I love a 3.5" turkey load.

You might want to add this into your mix of considerations http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/sbe2.tpl
