I must have an AZ truck for sure, if it gets into the 30's here over night, I plug mine in, otherwise I have to cycle the GP a couple times before it will start

There is something wrong with the GP system in your truck if it won't start at 30F. You either have a couple GP's out or the GPR is shot. My 2cents
My block heater quit working last spring. I have not ohmed it out to see if it's the cord or not but where are they on the block? How tough are they to get to and replace?
I believe they go in just about the oil filter. Not for sure though.
I appreciate everyone's ideas. I didn't plug it in last winter and yes I would cycle my glow plugs with my remote starter several times before starting it.
I already have an inverter that would hook up to directly to my battery and I was just wondering what kind of draw would the block heater take over night?
Just looking for ideas.

Yep, the block heater is near the oil fiter. Look for the orange cord coming from it.
I answered this above about the inverter. I guess i should've explained it better. The block heater uses 1200 watts of power. That's a 10 amp draw on 120VAC or a 100 amp draw at 12 Vdc. How long do you think a battery will last with a 100 amp draw on it?
Your batteries wouldn't last an hour with that much draw on them. The power requirements are the same whether you plug it in or use an inverter.
