Question 18K+ Power Module with adjustable Dial

Does anyone have this module in there trucks? I'm curious to know if it does what it says; 18K+ Power Module with adjustable Dial
  • Adds up to 85HP-120ft lbs of torque! (Stock Truck-No Chip) <!--
  • Dyno Chart, Click Here -->
  • Gain as much as 5 mpg, THATS RIGHT!
  • Increases oil pressure to injectors.
  • Quick install! Now works with Cruise Control.
  • Fully stackable with other chips!
  • We HIGHLY reccomend the use of gauges with this modification as this can cause high EGT levels when turned up.
  • For all 7.3L Powerstrokes 94-03
And if anyone does have this mod does it really require a gauge? For the price it doesn't sound bad. But you do get what you pay for!

Are you looking at E-bay for this? Per an earlier thread, this is nothing more then a 18K resistor place on your fuel pressure sensor, it tells the truck you have lower pressure, so the truck increases it. More fuel pressure, more fuel, higher EGT's. Hope this help, and I know if I left something out, someone will cover it.

Almost. It tricks the PCM from seeing the correct ICP pressure, or in other words high oil pressure. It's a modified resistor mod that takes the ICP voltage signal and drops it, making the PCM increase high oil pressure. The injectors are HEUI, meaning the fuel is atomized by hydraulic (in this case engine oil) pressure driven by the high pressure oil pump (HPOP). With higher pressures come more efficient fuel delivery and of course more power. Chips and programmers also do this. However the advantage of a chip or programmer is you get the benefit of better fuel tables, timing, shift points, etc.

Will it add 85 hp? Only if you have a very very strong HPOP that can handle the additional pressures. Majority of the trucks get less HP gains, usually around 45-65 at the rear wheels.

Will it increase your mileage by 5 mpg? Absolutely not. I've run this mod in the past and saw very little difference in mileage, even with my foot out of the pedal.

Do you need gauges? Yes, your EGT's will rise considerably when this is turned up, so you need to monitor the temps.

From my own experience, I've run a type of 18k mod and I much prefer a chip over this. The 18K is fun to play with, but to be real with this, you need a chip or tuner to take advantage of additional power with proper fueling, shifting, etc.

But for the money, isn't it worthwhile until a chip or programmer gets installed?

Nope... Its a waste, because with a well tuned chip you wont need the 18k... also you can build your own for about 5 worth of parts from RS...

Joe is right, go to local radio shak and back in the parts bins is an 18K potentiometer(sp). there are two ways to wire this in one is a weather lock connector off a GM temp sender IIRC, the other is to put the bare ends of the wires into your existing IPR. I have been playing with a 10K resistor for a few weeks and finally just took it out b/c I didn't like the way it raised my idle.
Total parts bill for 5 10K resistors was $2. I think the 18K is about $4, and you get to mount a little twisty **** in the cab.

Payne, yes, it would. But you should have at least a temp gauge for your DP so you don't burn things up. I highly discourage doing this mod straight out.
If you want the extra ponies, put gauges in and then get a proper chip or tuner so you reap all the benefits.

Payner, You can get a good fooler chip for $50.00-$100.00 on ebay I have 1 and it works okay I used it for 2 years. It has about 65HP on high but you do need the Temp & Boost gauge. I now have the DP tuner and WOW its great dont wait to long on getting a real chip.

bigcat350, im just waiting for the auction to finish up is about 4 days left for a super chip, friends dad has it on his 02 f350 stalk and it tares it up so i might as well grab one cheap, used or not there all the same i found out from a retailer, 110hp and 200ftlb don quote me though but thats on performance though id run the middle tune, but i just though might as well try these other things, just did the fpr shimming this evening, seems to run smoother, but i heard you can stack with the super chip and 18k?
