Does the Computer control the keyless entry?
Does the Computer control the keyless entry?
I want the keyless entry on my 97.
I'm wondering if installing a Computer from a 98 will have the Keyless entry programming in it?
The dealer did the Key-dance and the door locks did not pop! He thinks I dont have the feature.
So will installing a computer out of a 98 or newer have the feature?
Or is that feature held somewhere else in the pickup?

im not sure newer is what you want, you want one that has that as part of the package of the car, so just cuz its a newer one doesnt mean that it will necessarily have that feature, so you want a higher package than the one you currently have
Neither the PCM or the GEM module are involved.
The 97 used a Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module to do both the keyless entry and the factory alarm.
You would need to do quite a bit of homework before jumping into this project.

You will have to take the dash out and replace the harness, like my truck you dont have the module if the locks dont pop after turning the key on/off 7 times with in like 15 sec or somthing... This includes pulling the wires out of the doors. Its prety much the harness that goes threw everything on the dash...i will probably do it when i convert my truck from a Tan interior to a grey...
Thanks guys. That's the end of that dream. Too much work for too little gain.
I've been through a Car factory. What a tour. If you ever get the chance, dont pass it up. In there you can see why things go together so much easier than we can repair them.
Thanks, SHO n' BURNS...
