I'm pretty sure they all had the factory remote for locking/unlocking the doors. You can buy a new key fob for around $20.00 or less if you look around. You can also program it yourself. Instructions should be on this forum or just google it.

Good luck

I am pretty sure you you can call the dealer parts dept. and give them the VIN and they can tell. Or... see if it goes in to program mode like you were programming a remote. It used to be where you would turn the key on/off five times, stopping in the on position, then the locks would lock and unlock to confirm you're in program mode.

Plug your VIN into THIS site and it'll give you the options your vehicle was produced with.

You tried the what, the 5 on-offs? When you turn it to off and remove the key it will be out.

Thanks Bud ............! Is there any info on how to program the belt minder or seat belt reminder other than the owners manual. I have to admit today I was a little worried after doing the key on and off five times, I did get it into some kind of mode that continued to operate the buzzer. The only way I could stop it was to disconnect the battery minus. Eventually it started working again but now I have the door lock unlocked somehow. I have to use the key now to lock the only door that has a key lock and that is the drivers door.

The car should automatically exit programming mode after 30 seconds. I am not sure about the buzzing. What did you unlock it with before? You said you have to use the key now.

All this started because I wanted to know if I had the key fob system installed. I still don't know.
I tried the example, turn your key on and off five times ending with on.
(I have only the key lock on the drivers door, that works O.K.)
So after the episode of turning the key on and off five times, I'm pretty sure I set the computer to change the Autolock feature somehow.
Now, when I push the button to Lock the doors, the computer immediately unlocks the doors. So I have to use the key to lock the explorer now.
So somehow I changed that autolock feature somehow.
I still have not determined if I have the system installed that will allow me to buy a key fob and program it to lock and unlock the door locks.

I would say that if you have the autolock system you can program a key fob to lock and unlock it. Just do a Google or Yahoo search for programming the autolock system for your year and model and you can re-set the autolock feature.
