just wondering if anyone has installed a keyless entry kit on a truck before. im looking to put a kit on my 89 f150. i already have power locks so thats one problem out of the way. i was wondering if the computer or whatever controls the locks is compatable with a remote keyless entry kit. any help is appriciated. thanks!
i have keyless entry and alarm on my 90 truck. you will have to get a good manual and wiring diagrams to get it hooked up correctly if you do it yourself. Once you find which wires you need to hook into, its not a big deal.
it can be done ! i have keyless entry and a remote start on my 87 f150, what type of keyless are you going to install. i have the one from bulldog.it took about an hour and a half and its been working for four years without a hitch. i love it. when its 15 degrees i just go to the window hit that remote start button and when i get in the truck ten minutes later its toasty warm.:
i had the link to the web site , but its not workin,www.bulldog security.com. thet even have the wiring diagrams you need.

hey allfords, im just looking to do a basic keyless entry, i dont think ill need a remote start. the remote power windows would be nice though... i looked at the bulldog ones and they seem pretty nice. how much did you pay for yours? is it reliable? was it a pain in the *** to tie it into the wiring? where did you put the little control box (where was the wiring accessable)? i mean did you have to tear everything apart to get to the wires that you needed, or were they all in one central location. ive had some experience with doing some wiring on my truck (the indiglo gauges and my sound system setup) so i dont think ill have too much trouble with it if you say its that easy. i have a haynes manual for the wiring diagrams and i looked at the one on bulldog's site.
oh and the seats came out of a 91 f150 extended cab. got them and the console at a junkyard for about 30 bucks. gotta tell ya, i love them. only problem is i can only fit 2 people in at a time. luckily, that problem doesnt come up too often. get back to me and let me know if theres anything i can help you with. thanks for the input!
really love those seats man..!..got to get me some !. you say you dont want to put in a remote start but you might want to consider it..the box like a said before bulldog makes em and i have had the same one for four years and never , never had a problem.(there pretty cheap to about 60.00)i haveit mounted ontop of the acces panel near the steering column ..its in there with wire ties.but its there sercurely,it really wasent that hard to .go to the bulldog web site they have the exact wire diagram you need for your truck, you can get the diagram, print it out and take it with you when you install it. lemme know what happens dude ! and good luck
You can have keyless entry INSTALLED at alot of aftermarket stereo places, if you'd like to come down to Florida I could aim you towards a place that does it for only $49.00, plus I could take a look at your nice tailgate trim panel while they install your keyless entry.
im sorry i didnt get back to you soon deathrowe, christmas, need i say more ? lol
anyway im sending you a link here form bulldog security. even if you dont install anythink from bulldog this site will tell you where all the wires are. its a great post and i know it will help you. by the way , since seeing your truck with those buckets i am on a hunt for some they really look great and cant wait to change mine out. good luck with the remote http://bulldogsecurity.com/New%20Wir...dpufs89-91.htm

Power Winders Locks everything
but recently the unlock part of teh power locks stopped working as in u mash the L and they lock, and u mash U and nothing happens
What would cause this, is it a fuse, is it a wire pinched, is it worth the trouble of fixing (im a big guy but it is still hard to lean accross the truck to open the other door)
the loch and unlock work off one relay, so my educated guess is there is probably a problem with your switch, maybe it has gotton wet before and the contacts are dirt or rusty, i would start by first looking at the switch...good luck
ok... shouldi just pop off the cover that goes over the switches? cuold i get a more detailed description of what i should do plz? (im not tryin to be rude if it sounds like i am, i am very appreciative of ya'll's help)
I'm not sure on your 89' , but most Fords without factory keyless entry are reverse polarity triggered door locks which means it requires two additional relays to interface with them. As far as bulldog brand I read that the bulldogs had fire recalls on the remote start units.
hey allfords, did you need these additional relays for the locks? i ordered mine a few days ago so it should be here soon. i got the remote starter kit. i downloaded the installation manual and the wiring locator thing. did you need anything extra to install your kit?
