Hey everyone.
Heres my problem is this...when I start the engine (6.8 V10) there is about 5 seconds then a clunk. I think it might have something to do with the A/C.
If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Is the A/C turned on when you start it? If the defrost is turned on when you start it, the A/C compressor will start as if you have the air conditioner turned on too. Make sure both of those are turned off, then start it up. If the sound goes away, then you have found the problem. Having said that, you really shouldn't be hearing the A/C clutch engage. In fact, the A/C clutch usually engages and disengages constantly, and you really shouldn't hear it. Could it be the fan clutch?
mine does this thing but only occasionally and you have to put it in gear and start to move --- you having the same issue?? --- I haven't found the source yet but have ruled out ball joints; a/c comp.; fan; and tranny
Ha..yes it does scare you and you think someone has ran into you. I once thought this nice family had ran into my X with a shopping cart. Luckily, i'm not to hot headed and inspected the truck before going off the handle. I'll check all these things and get back with my details. Thanks guys and gals.
