Intercooler pressure test

I read about a kit or somthing to use to fill and pressurize the intercooler tubes with air to check for leaks, but can't find it know. Can someone help me?

I have seen it done at a truck shop. The plug both the intake and exit up with rubber bungs. One bung has a schraeder valve and the other has a pressure gauge. They pump it with a hose thru the valve and watch the gauge. You might be able to rig up something like that.

That looks easy enough. So if i hook it up to the intake, fill the pressure to say 40psi? how long should it hold it?

I would hook it up to as close to the boots as possible. If it holds pressure for a couple of minutes I think it would be ok. Say 5 mins.

the longer the better..you will hear it leak if its going to leak...plug the map line and the green line..build to 40 PSI and listen...

Is the system in fact "tight". When I did this test I had air coming out the exhaust system and attributed it to leakage past valves??

If you have the IC out, why not dunk it in a bath of water? That will tell you where the leaks are.

So if I do what Ron says, will in fact air leak out through the valves? Or is the system tight?
