Speedo cable question
What do you guys use for a speedometer cable when you are running a late model trans (AOD in my case) with the original speedometer. Thanks in advance for your input.

I'm running a Lokar cut to length unit with a C6 trans and Ford SVO gauges. Contact Lokar and see if they have something that will work for you. All you need is the speedo gear from the trans you are using, and if you don't have that, you can still get them at the Ford parts dealer for your tranny.

I'm not familiar with how the speedometer housing attaches to an AOD but NAPA used to carry a universal cable and housing (I assume they still do) you may be able to use. The housing has screw-on connectors on both ends and the cable has a crimp-on end. The cable is a cut-to-fit unit that works with an original or aftermarket speedometer head. I got one there a few years ago for my TH350 and Stewart Warner mechanical speedometer.

If your not too picky but when I had my 1951 truck running (302/AOD), I used a 70's ford car speedo cable. They were originally a clip on cable but I it was the right size to slide over the threaded end. I removed the plastic clip and gave it a slight crimp which made it a friction fit. It worked great and it shouldn't come off either.
