Ok completly opinonated question.. Just bought a 89 F250.. The interior has the rubber in the floor rather than carpet.. leave the rubber or pull it out put down sound deadner and carpet? I live in CO and have to deal with the mud/snow of the winter time but i think the rubber is just going to let to much road noise in.. you can see pics of the truck in my gallery.. im going to actually pick it up on friday so hopefully this weekend ill tinker a bit on it and get some more pics up.. first thing is first stop the surface rust on the outside before it becomes more than that.. the truck is pretty straight tho the only dent in the drivers door but i think i can pop it out with maybe a plunger or pull the door panel and pop it out by hand.. well let me know what yall think.. this is my second ford truck... i had a 92 2wd f250 w/ a 5.0.. this one has the 351 in it and its 4x4..
In my opinion I would get the carpet for the same reasons you would. I would also get a set of Husky Liners or WeatherTech liners for the cab floor (like floormats) to keep the carpet from getting messed up with the snow and mud.
or should i leave the rubber down and just carpet over it?? never messed with interior much and this truck is mostly a fixeruper on the looks end but its got a newer engine in it so no need of much there maybe other than a tune up
If I was doing it (I already have carpet) I would put down Dynomat or something similar and then get a carpet made to fit your year from LMC Truck parts or someplace similar.
But thats me. There are different strokes for different folks.
yeah i know lmc well.. i didnt know if just leaving the rubber would be better... like i said new to the interior thing... do you know of anyone thatd have new upolstry for my seats?? i cant find my style on lmc..

Unfortunately, no. I know of a local guy here in PA I will be using if I can ever find what I am looking for.
I have been trying to find a replacement split bench seat for my 87 F150 and haven't been very successful. I don't need a new seat (great condition) but I'm 5'5" (maybe only 5'4") and I would like a split bench (have a bench now) to help out taller passengers if I can.
if you really are worried about noise, put the dynamat down and reinstall the rubber flooring.
unless you don't care that your carpet will look like a wild mangy dogs fur after being out in a 2 month rainstorm, then 3 months of 100º heat to cake the mud in.

Hey armyboy, I gots a f250 also currently with carpet and really thick padding, soon I
will been doing the interior also, For me im going to instl that aluminum sound barrier
that covers the entire floor, prior to that im gonna have it sprayed with Rhino liner
then put rubber floor down, Why, might you ask, well i live up here in western washington and its wet 9 mo of the year, so as it is my carpet just soaks up water like a sponge, I also know about colorado and the snow and the clay it covers is a mess when tracked in your truck, been there lived in boulder for a long time, my reason
for a mat, you can hose it out and let dry without having to vacume. my .02

That sounds like a good idea.
I was out looking at my rear window today and noticed that my rear seat bolts are rusted. After further investigating I found the rear window is leaking. I have another post about my rear window being powered and I am not able to find a switch. Well after looking today and taking pics I think I am going to order a new window and seal from LMC. Since I probably have rust damage on the floor I might be inclined to use i1dery's idea.
Never really liked vinyl floors but the ease of cleaning them out does make it very tempting.
