Here is what happened. early 99 model year. Truck wouldnt start this morning so I changed out the CPS. At the same time I noticed the batteries werent turning over the engine as fast as normal so I changed them out under the 3 year free replacement warranty. Before this the truck ran fine just all of sudden wouldnt start. So I changed out the CPS to a brand new Belkin model as that what NAPA had and needed to get it going. Now every once in a while it stalls for no apparent reason. Runs great then stalls. Never did this before. Have you ever seen a brand new CPS do this? Have you ever seen a CPS just stop working after sitting overnight? Could it be a bad connection and should there be any dielectric grease on the fitting? I wiggled the connection after putting it on to make sure it was on all the way. Also prior to changing out the CPS I did a code scan and only got a PO603 code but nothing that dealt with the CPS.
Im going to check the wiring again. The wierd issue is my brother has a 2001 model and also put the same brand of cam position sensor in it. We were pulling a trailer to Jacksonville a few months ago and few times while driving it just shut off and turned right back on. This was about a week after putting in the same brand of belkin CPS. His hasnt shut of since thatthat I know of. I just hope these belkin CPS's are good. If not Im going to return and get a Ford one.
I would make sure you are getting fuel to your fuel bowl.. If that looks OK..last resort, you might try another new grey cps from: http://fordparts.com/cart/?pn=F7TZ-1...&submit=Search for around $25 including shipping..
Im going to get one anyways to have as a spare. Are the gray version ones allot better then the black versions. The belkin I got was black and looked identical to the original one I pulled out. Thanks.
