Well I have been reading the post and figured that i need to replace the return lines. I have bought the return line and injector seal kit and now would like to know if there are any tricks to replacing them. I have a 88 E-350 7.3. It was an Ambulance.
Just replaced mine. wasn't too bad getting old ones off was a little tough ending up cutting them. you will need them to measure the new lines with so cut them Length wise.
Just did mine on my 84 E-350. The only one that was any problem at all was the passenger front one. I couldn't get both hands and an eye on it at the same time. Ended up using left hand from inside of van on it, with no eyes. It wasn't a big problem though. Aren't vans fun? My next van may be a pick-up. I am now 66 years old and don't contort like I used to.
MW: Don't get me wrong. I love my van. I also have a 1985 Mercedes 300TD stationwagon also N/A. It's ok but I like the van better I think. The MB is easier to work on the motor I think though. The van is the extended window van. I plan to build it into a camper of sorts. Build a couch/bed assembly and some cabnet storage etc. Atleast that is my plan.
My van still has all the medical equipment and lights/ siren in it. I have not figured what all i want to do with it. I do need to find a hitch for it so i can tow my trailer to the race track.
MW: I have a Reese frame hitch setting in my yard you could have but I dont think it will fit on the back end of an ambulance. You may have to have one built. The one on my E-350 is custom built and welded on. I wish it wasn't but it was that way when I bought the van. I have given much thought to getting an ambulance. They usually have much less than 200K miles on them. The box is a nice size for a camper, and I like the idea of outside stowage(or is that storage?). Be careful and get your fan belts back on in thr correct order. Got two of mine mixed up and the steering ciupling ate a hole in my PS return line. Took a while to figure out what the problem was.
Yea I have looked for a hitch and all of them say wont fit that wheel base. So i might have to get one welded on. Hope I can find someone to do it cheap.
I don't khow anyone now but I used to get things like that done for a case of beer, and that was shared. I had to scrounge the parts myself. I would buy the tube new and get the other metal scrap from a metel supply place. They sell metal with rust on it cheaper. Just get real metal and not rebar and/or all thread.
