I recieved 3 trannys from a friend. One is a 3 speed standard out of a mustang. One is a c4 out of a mustang. And the third I don't know. It is about 2-3 times heavier than a c4 but looks like a c4. I'm thinking it is a c6 but I don't know. How can I tell? Here is the number off of it E0AP-7008-CA. Any thoughts?
Thanks. I have another one for you. I have a 74, if you decode the numbers and letters it says its a 74, 3 speed manual trans that I recieved from the same guy but I have no idea what it is or what it is out of. It is kinda long and the shifter is at the very back right above the output shaft. I think it is out of a car cause it has a very short shifter.
Funny you should be asking that question. I too have that
transmission I pulled out of a 79 T-Bird I had. The engine is
original to the car, but obviously the trans isn't. If it's a removeable
bellhousing, it's not a C6, that's for sure. Mine has the vacuum
modulator on the driver side. Does yours? I think it's the last of
the line FMX's. They were used through 1980. I also can't get
anyone to tell me an answer. But I really think it's an FMX.
Also, the three speed trans was used in the Maverick/Comet
line which were available with floor shift. It could be from
one of those. The last year for the Mustang/Cougar application
was 1973.
Yup, the Granada/Monarch used it also. I guess an early
production one could have used a 74 model year trans.,
although they came out as 75's. The introduction date
was Sept. 21, 1974, so I imagine production ramped up
around May/June of 74. Come to think of it, my 1973 maverick
(built in June 73) had the original AC compressor on it
and it has the 1974 Mustang part number on it. The Mustang
II was introduced in the Spring of 73 as an early 74 Model.

Maybe this will help.

Thanks NumberDummy. However my transmission case is E0AP.
And the tag is gone. I think it's an FMX because of the modulator
on the driver side rather than passenger side and it has a removable
bellhousing. You are an invaluable resource. And we ALL Thank You!
