nd no difference in potential between the two tabs.In other words they are the same voltage.THe two map lites work fine but not the dome.Any ideas.
Thanks all
some reason that didnt type rite.
My dome lite does not work.I have 12 volts on both of the brass tabs that hold the bulb.THe two map lites work fine but not the dome
Do the cargo box lamps (the ones on either side of the high mounted brake light) work? They are wired in parallel with the interior light. If they don't, I would suspect that there is a problem with their common ground point and you're reading the 12 volts being fed back on the ground side from the cargo box lights. The ground for all of these lamps is located on the read cab wall, driver's side just below the rear cab window.

aha The cargo lights DO NOT work.New truck for me so dont laugh too hard.I asume u turn them on via the dial that controls the panel lights.
And thanks for the help I will look at the ground on the weekend. Thanks again.

Sounds like an open ground. What you're reading is the 12 volts backfeeding from the cargo lights. They come on at the same time as the interior light.
I have the same problem. No dome lights, or cargo lights. I can't find the common ground point. I have a crew cab... Are you talking about a reg cab? Is it still in the same place?
