i just purchased an 01 excursion v10..the X has 44's tires.thespeedo is calibrated correct.when im doing 60mph im at 1550rpm with 44's tires.can anyone get an idea of what kind of gears i have?i cant imagine there still 3.73 or 4.10
Under the "MPH RPM" heading is a calc for gear ratio. Plugging in your numbers gave this result, Gear Ratio = 3.3829365079365That does not sound like a factory ratio to me, but it is close.
The other option is to make a mark on the driveshaft in a convienient spot, lift a tire off the ground, place tranny or t-case in neutral, have a helper rotate the tire one revolution while you count the number of turns the driveshaft makes. Still approximate but usable. If the axles is posi/locker you need to lift both tires off the ground. Hope that helps!
