2005 SD w/ 12'' RIZE Lift and 44'' Tires
Well Im looking at the 12'' RIZE lift now because it retains the rear leafs so it would be better for towing. I have a few questions.
1. Will 44'' tires actually fit with this lift kit?
2. Can I get the stock drive shafts lengthened or do I need to have custom ones made?
3. What gears should I go with for 44'' tires with the 6.0?
4. What kinda gas milage could I expect with the right gears and 44's?
5. Does anone have any pics with the 12'' RIZE lift and 44's besides the ones off of the RIZE web site?

Thats a bunch of lift!
1. depending on off road use, and how wide a wheel you select, they will go under there.
2. With that much lift, you will have to consider a 1 piece rear shaft, too much angle, for a two piece, and would have to lower the center bearing too far. Front driveshaft will have to work at a wicked angle, and would probably break a u-joint if the axle extended off road. Re-indexing the case might be a good choice, but a new front shaft will also be a good idea.
3. To keep the engine happy at around 2000 rpm's at highway speed, a ratio of 5.13:1 to 5.29:1 is required.
4. Realitively poor mileage, lets get that out of the way now. A guy with a 12" lift, and 44 inch tires should have very little expectations with regards to mileage. This truck will never be a fuel saver after the lift. You will appreciate this when you buy the tires, and try to lift them, or even roll them around. These tires are heavy, and the truck will notice the difference
What are you planning on towing with this? You are limited by tire ratings, and because of the lift, 5th wheels are out of the question, so you are stuck with using the old reciever hitch. Ever seen how far a drop hitch has to be to keep a trailer level when attatched to a truck with a double digit lift kit? Lots of leverage here that will limit trailer weight.

44s won't fit.
40s will
I'd go with a transfer case reindexing ring. And then get the driveshafts made/modified
With 40s I'd go 4.88s....44s would be 5.13s or 5.38s
MPG will depend on any other mods and driving style. I'd say unloaded with a 40" + tire I would expect to ever get over 14-15 MPG.

We've stretched a few RIZE 12" kits to 14-16" of lift.....still only running 40s though.
