When im installing 4.56 gears on a front D44 that currently has 3.55s.
I understand for this I need to use a 3.92 and up carrier to fit these gears or a thick cut gear set.
What im asking is that, I have a 4:10 carrier thats in a standard cut D44HD, "High Boy". Can I use this instead of buying thick cut gears or a new carrier to fit my 4.56s. Or is it different?
I usually buy all of my stuff at Bronco graveyard. From what I see "i may have missed it" they dont sell thick cut gears just different cases.
Looking at randys I see that thick cut sets are higher priced than the regular. Unless you buy the cheap noisey ones.
Back to the story, I have been told that in the d44HD they used the same carriers for 3.50 and 4.10. The gears were just a thick cut from the factory, being all standard rotation.
And I have been also told that these carriers were split at 3.92. Allowing me to get away without buying a new carrier or buying a thick cut set.
