Could someone list the steps to follow to remove the driver's side door lock actuator on a 1991 F150. I have searched other strings relating to PDL, but all I have been able to get from them is that the actuator is fastened with a rivet that has to be drilled out and replaced with a bolt.
It was a simple matter to drill out the rivet, but I haven't been able to figure out how to remove the actuator from the door hardware. What am I missing??
Do I need to remove the window channel? Or, the door handle? Or the door lock? Or do I take my grinder and cut a hole in the inner skin of the door to gain access to the hardware?
I have the same questions, but havn't messed with it yet.
While doing searches a while back for something else I ran into a thread discussing the issue, but can't seem to find it now.
Might try searching with the string "door lock actuators"
It brings back lots of posts and one is pretty descriptive about disconnecting rods ect.

i replaced the power door lock actuator on my passenger side of my 1991 f250 with little problems i removed to actuator from the door and if you lift it up and move it around inside the door you will disconect it from the hardware its on a hook like thingy i did it over a year ago so my memorie is a little fuzzy but i did it!
Have a look at my pics here under F150 Stuff... http://ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/conan@rogers.com/
To get at the power lock actuator you'll have to remove the door glass. Start with the main window down, and remove the vent glass, 2 screws up front on the sloped surface, 1 below the vent window lock. Remove these, pull the top of the vent window assembly backwords, remove the rubber gasket from the window channel, rotate the assembly 90deg and pull it out of te door. Now the main window glass will slide forward off the regulator assembly. I riveted the door lock mount back on with a large rivet and washers. I then cut the rivet off inside the door with a dremmel so the actuator would fit in the mount.
