Power door lock actuator

hey guys, i have to drill out the pop rivet for the actuator motor this week but dont need to replace the actuator i just need to get it out to replace some door guts. but what im wondering is if anyone knows what kind and/or size that pop rivet is that holds it in place so that i can get a new one. the napa guy said he had no way of looking it up. i have the supposed part number in my chiltons and lmc truck has a different stock number, they sell them but there only like .70 cents so i dont see a reason to buy one there. any help would be great.

yeah, paying shipping on that would be silly ..

measure the hole and go see what the hardware store has in pops (or take the actuator w/ you) .. get stainless if they have 'em ..

you can use a small bolt/screw and a lock nut (the kind w/ the nylon insert) if it'll fit ..

if you are stuck on the pop rivit for replacement then I would suggest getting both sizes and returning the size you don't need. they don't cost that much and wouldn't think it would break the bank to have a few extra rivits around.... but that's just me...

obviously... but she said there was two different part numbers in the LMC vs. Chiltons books... I'd just cut it off and find a replacement for it after it's off...

It's a 1/4" rivet. You need a special rivet gun to put it in. I would just put a short 1/4" bolt in there if I didn't have the correct rivet gun.

FYI.. the actuator can be removed from the mounting bracket without removing it from the door.. it's not easy but it is possible.

This is what I used to mount it when I swapped doors on my truck, I had to get in there with a grinder and shave down the end of the rivot so the actuator would go back in.

Yup, its a 1/4" rivet. The actual name is "window Regulator Rivets"
And, yes, the rivet gun isnt an ordinary gun.

I just got done with doing the Electric wondow to Manual window swap, went very easy, and was worth it.

But, I, personally, wouldnt use nut-and-bolt, they can sometimes loosen if you dont have locking nuts/loc-tite/etc. Plus, some are in very tight spots, so why not do it the right way

Heres a pic of the gun/rivets.

Also, the gun is really worth it, it was only $20, and you can use it as a regular rivet gun, etc. I got it at Harbor Freight.

Wow they have come down a lot in price. I riveted mine in about 5 years ago and I borrowed a friends rivet gun.

well it's a harbor freigt... which there is nothing wrong with harbor freight tools but they are like the opposite of Matco or Snapon... even Craftsman. Don't make me out to be the bad guy b/c I have a couple harbor freight tools myself because they are so economical for tools you only will be using once in a great while.
