That is my 3 yr old's finger. Anyway, I guess this happened yesterday. There is no air leaking and it appears to be no more than a 1/4 inch deep. The tires are almost brand new.
What should I do guys?
Ask the tire guys. Use it for a spare, but don't use it. Replace it, not worth taking a chance. sidewall dammage can't be repaired. Just what I have learned in my short life!
Ride it! I have had cuts worse then that on my BFG all-terrains and no worries. Sidewall gashes usually dont cause blowouts. Any idea what you might have run over?
I would make it a spare if you are towing or interstate driving. No sense risking the kids life. I know you have another one on the inside of that one but that is just my thoughts. BTW the BFG's have a 3 ply sidewall that is stronger than most but be careful.
1/4" deep is pretty deep. The sidewall is not much more than that. I would do the spare thing. BTW I have 3- 295/75-16 BFG AT's slightly used if you need on or all of them. I don't think they are the same as what you have but the offer is out there.
Steve I don't know what picture your looking at but that tire is on a dually wheel. I would throw that tire in the trash ASAP. Even running that tire on the rear when it blows and it will it will take out your nice shiny dually fender. Side wall damage especially on duallies will destroy things in a big hurry. Every seen semi tires shredded all over the road. Thats cause they have run flat for a couple hundred miles with out knowing it then they heat up enough to start coming apart! bad news bears right there!

Cowboy Steve
We are moving to a small farm next year and was visiting it yestrday. There is a small but sort of steep hill I went up with some ruts and some DANG rocks!
CRAP! I've had the freakin truck two days and already need to replace a practically brand new tire. They are BFG 265. Is there any way to plead with BFG for some kind of refund?!
You could atest that the tire split on a paved road under normal conditions and see how it goes but more then likely they will know exactly what happened to it. Try the place you got them from, maybe they have a hidden warranty. If it was me bro I would drive it. Im a tire guy from way back and I have had much worse happen to my sidewalls on those tires and they never blew. Good luck my friend
