You can tell Steve doesn't have a wife and kids that ride in his truck. I have seen a staple puncture a tire and I have pulled a 4 inch nail out of one that never even went though the cords let alone made the tire leak.

And Steve your a tire guy from way back? Was that like way back 5 years ago when you got your learners permit??

Sorry bud, can't agree with you one this one. That tire has no place on a vehicle hualing anybody but your self and that only if you not driving on the same road me and my family are on.

My dad owns a tire and rim company, so i have been around and worked around tires and rims all my life. Were talkin semi and ag tires and rims, some light duty tires. So hair line scraps and cuts dont bother me. I know when a tire is no good and I wouldn't consider that tire bad. You dont have to agree tim, you know how this works. We'll just agree to disagree my friend.

Cowboy Steve

P.S.- Tim, I had my farm license at the rip ol age of 12. Thats when it was cheap to burn a tank of fuel in a day, lol.

I agree to disagree. We both know how that works but, I am still going to try to persaude you to be right! LOL If this was a semi or ag tire this would be minor as its only 1/4 inch but this is a tire with hardly more than 1/4 inch side wall. Sure it may be closer to 1/2 inch but the facts are this isn't a semi tire or a tractor tire. This is a light duty tire that rusn the road at 70 mph. I too have dealt with all kinds of tires. Mostly light duty tires but plenty of semi and ag tires. This tire is not safe to run on the road.

Same team, different thoughts!

I know same teams brother. But Goodrich and even Toyo went massivily over-kill on their sidewalls to make them a stout tire. So a "1/4" is nothin compared to the 1" of meat their packin on the sidewalls. Irregardless, its decission he'll have to make on his own wether to run it or not, but as for me and my rig, I'd run that thing tell the tread gave out.

Well agree to disagree! I enjoy our discussions! It keeps me from getting lazy (as I sit in my chair finishing my nightly bowl of yummy chocolate ice cream!)

Weird! I usually draw up a bowl of butter pecan with light caramel topping before i start in on our convo's. This is usually followed by a healthy snoose of Copenhagen. Makes for a great situation. I to love our discussions brother, lol

did I mention these tires are BFG 265s? They seem pretty big and thick. Remember I just bought the truck two days ago and the former owner had these tires put on. I assume to replace one would be around $100?

Fenders, Kids in truck ... you be the judge. Just be super careful especially at high speeds. If it goes it may take out the good tire also.

BFG's tires are big but not 1". Like I said I have 3 195's you can have but you would be better off getting one of what you got. Shop around ALOT you will be surprised at the differences in tires. Also look at mail order sometimes they are very cheap but slow.

If I replace I should just replace with the same brand and size right?

It's a dually, keep the same size brand doesn't matter. The back will allways wear out before the front anyway

Does it matter if it's a different tread pattern?

tn, it's simple. You need the same size tire, brand tread doesn't matter. Replace the damn thing, or next time we see your kids finger, it will be pointing at a dually fender in a million fiberglass splinters. If in fact that's the least that happens. The paint looks good, but try to match that blue on a truck with that many miles.....you can't. And the paint scheme is the least of your worries. I realize buying new tires sucks. But the fact is the tire is DAMAGED. Any normal person like us has no idea how much rubber there is there period. And I don't give a crap what anyone says, there ain't no 1" of rubber there. Not on those tires. tn, I'm not trying to get down on you man I promise. But my opinion is replace the tires. When you run a cut tire like that, you endanger yourself, those cute little fingers, and the guy behind you. Do the right thing man. But this is just my opinion.

Since it's just the rear outside tire all they will need to do is replace and balance rght? Maybe I should get them to install the long valve stems for two rear inside tires.
