If all goes well Tuesday night late I will have a 97 F350 CC PSD dually in my driveway. Quick question about fluids, the truck has 269K miles and 12K miles on rebuilt tranny. Here is the owner's statement on what fluids he uses:
oil was changed every 3k mi and I only use Rotella 15w40 the trans fluid is dextron mercron and a friction/heat reducer additive. coolant is ford brand with the deisel additive 50/50 mix
What would you change or do different? Thanks for the advice to a very soon to be new diesel owner.
Rotella is good oil, check for full, is it time for an oil change? if not then run it as is. Trans fluid is right type, check for full, check condition of fluid, how long since last fluid and filter change? change it if needed. Get some coolant test strips and check the DCA (Diesel Coolant Additive), add as needed, how long since a coolant flush and refill was done?
