Ok, I found the filter number for the tymar one at napa (6637). However they are not cheap for a paper filter almost $50. I did search, several times in fact, the tymar intake (homemade and not). The first time I looked at swapping out my K&N drop-in filter the tymar filter from napa I thought I remembered it being around $25 or so. Is my napa raping me or is that the norm cost everyone else is getting them for. The other question is what makes that filter better than a reuseable one like K&N or AirRaid? Volume of air or filtering down to so small of microns...?
From fleetfilter.com: 46637 Air Filter $24.86. The drop in K&N has sealings problems. Alot of people do not like reusable filters (K&N, AFE, etc) The 6637 flows 425 CFM. Personal preference.
The tymar is a paper filter vs. the re-usable units are. Smaller dust and dirt particles can enter into the turbo and cause significant problems down the road. Its a sense of security you get when you run the tymar set-up. And when you look into how much the system costs it really isn't even any comparison to how much a K&N set-up will cost ya. good luck and hope this helps!

P.S.- K&N drop in filters are garbage! don't waste your time with them.
Good point Steve, I never looked at it that way. I know the system isn't $27. I just need the filter. How many miles do ya'll get from the filter. Normal driving. No off road no dirt roads, I think I covered them all.
I have had my filter for a little over 10,000 miles and no performance loss yet. Its a great setup for farmers and ranchers that see dirt road conditions everyday.
i have about 40k (between my old 95 and this truck) on mine with mixed on and off road driving including about 10 hours worth of dune running! the dunes opened last weekend!! time to have fun!
I have about 25,000 miles on mine, its about 1 year old and its getting to the point where I think I should replace it. Someone posted here that they notice a 1-2 mpg decreace after 10,000 miles.
The fleet filters really get you on shipping charges. I think when I looked it would cost as much as just buying one from napa. I guess it gets cheaper when your buy 2 or 3 at the same time.

I work at a NAPA and we sell the 6637 for about $43. I have the NAPA 6637 on my truck and change it about every 12,000 - 14,000 miles and there is a very noticable change in performance. but then again I do a mixture of on and offroad driving and we also have very high humidity here so the dust seems to stick a little worse too. also I would take this setup any day over the stock airbox with a dropin k&n filter that was in it when I bought the truck, any day of the week and twice on sunday.
