While checking my oil yesterday i found my air filter box is cracked. I am getting married in less than 2 months so money is an issue but I will do what ever i have to because since trashing the motor is way more expensive. Should i replace the box with oem or go after market and what kind of prices am i looking at. Thanks in advance for any help.
you can do the kwik filter for about $40 bucks from napa part #6637, it will make your turbo louder in a good way, if you do a search you will find info and pics all over the place on it.
I have the airbox out of my 1999 and you can have it for shipping cost, if you can use it. The airbox is in great shape too...I replaced it a few years ago with the AIS filter and box.

I'll offer the same as Neal did, just in case I'm closer to you and can do a pickup. The NAPA filter with a 4" long piece of 4" exhaust pipe and an extra worm-gear clamp will probably be your quickest and cheapest fix.
i didnt even need the 4 inch pipe for mine i just worked the stock rubber piece over the filter. you might want to have them order you a filter because the napas around me dont stock them, it usually takes them a day.
Some people have it work just fine without the 4" pipe - personally, I had it that way but didn't trust it not to pop off and some horribly inconvenient moment. Muffler shops normally have scrap around and most (myself included) have had them just cut off a 4" long piece and give it to them (FREE!). 1 extra clamp then and you're pretty much guaranteed it won't come loose or pop off. I like reliability.
Since you have a 2002, you can slip the stock intake tube right over the 6637 filter neck. That's how I have mine -- been that way for months with no problems. It's a good idea to scuff up the neck with rough sandpaper or a file so the tube has something to grab. Other than that, the only trick is to cut the little tab off the end of the intake tube, and trim the alignment tab that fits in the slot in the clamp because of the slightly wider filter neck.
Here's mine installed:
EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention that you can toss the filter minder and tape up the connector. And be careful with the intake temp sensor -- it's a little fragile, but when you pull it out, you can just zip-tie it next to the filter at a convenient point. Most of us use the brake line that's right there. If you want, you can install the sensor and/or filter minder directly into the end of the filter, but it's definitely not necessary...
This is the exact procedure I followed last friday and I love hearing that turbo whine and the pressure release when you back of the pedal. Here is the link:

Since everyone else has answered your ? I will pick on you a little bit.
Getting married is in no way fashion or form cheaper than replacing a motor. Trust me. You think you got maintenance cost now.... hooo boy. you just wait.
If you decide not to go with a modified air set up let me know. I have a complete air box from my '02 that you can have. Just let me know where to ship it to and it is yours.

Congratulations, and good luck.
You'll carry pictures in your wallet where money used to be.
It's very much worth the tradeoff, congrats and may God bless you with a long life together.
