I wanted to know your opinion about the different chips that are out there. I am looking at the Jet chip right now for my 2001 F-250 4x4 with a V10, Auto, K&N air charger, and Gibson Exhaust. You seem to be the resident expert with Chips (especially Diablo), could you help me out as to which chip (Jet, Hypertech, Diablo, Superchip) is better and why?

Oaf: Man, will I catch flak from this one, but, here goes. Read each products web site. According to Hypertech's web site, they add power at full throttle. Other than that one difference, all other brands will accomplish the same thing. There are only so many ways to increase horsepower on a naturally aspirated engine. Advance the timing for premium, alter the fuel curve, alter the timing curve, and maybe change the duty on the injectors. None will increase your mileage. All claim about a 10% increase in horsepower. In my humble opinion, I would buy the product that I am most comfortable with. Call the different manufacturers, distributors, see who you get honest, straight, prompt answers from. Can you call and speak to a human, or take a number and wait in line??? I am a bit more service oriented than price oriented. The cheap chip ain't such a good deal when there is no one to help you after 5:00 P.M. if your truck won't start!!! Ask around, see who gives good service.

V10: You could be correct. I know nothing about JET products, therefore I don't make any statements about them. The old lower thermostat trick is a bit really old. Some companies use a lower temp thermostat to fool the ecu into richening the fuel charge for a colder engine. Diablo and Superchips use the program to richen the fuel charge.
