i have an 03 f150, have a jet chip but going to get rid of it. trying to decide on a diablo sport chip or a hypertech programmer. wanting others opinions on it. also is a hypertech programmer good if you change mass air sensors, add headers or get different cams?
-hypertech only tunes at 80% throttle and above- it's a 1 tuines for everey truck thing- with mass ariflow change- you'd run dangerously lean conditions- ken payne at motorhaven.com- tunes diablo chips based on each base program via the computer code.-
I'd personally get the Diablo over the tuner. When you get the tuner, you get what you buy and that's it. If you want future mods, I don't think you can program a tuner for those mods. The chip on the other hand will get you a little more power than a tuner and you can get it re-programmed for future mods you might want to have done. Get the chip.
If you plan to change the MAF sensor go with the chip. The Hypertech programmer can not handle the MAF at wide open conditions. Same goes with Superchips programmers.
If you want a tuner over a chip, get the Superchips Microtuner. While it doesn't support MAFs either, it does let you do a lot of things the Hypertech won't, tunes at all throttle positions and includes a diagnostic code reader.
If you want the most horsepower for the buck, go with a Diablo chip.
