Hypertech interchange info
I own a 90 Bronco with 5.0 and AOD that I'm considering chipping. I have an opportunity to buy a used Hypertech from a 91 with same engine and trans. Does anyone know how specific these chips are to model years? Will a 91 chip work in my 90? What are the potential problems/issues I might encounter? If not compatible can it just be re-progammed to match my Bronc? I'd really rather go with a new Diablo and play it safe, but the used chip is REALLY cheap.

Unless you plan to swap the computer box along with the engine and tranny, the Hypertech won't swap without reprogramming it. You're probably looking at about $125 to get it reprogrammed --- so cheap isn't as cheap as you might think.
