I was given a Hypertech chip, brand new in the box, to put on my 1995 F-150 (the one in my sig). The questions are as follows:

1. The chip is listed for a 1992 w/ 351w and E/OD transmission (p/n 620131), again mine is a 95, so will it work?

2. I have been looking at the JET chip, so how is this different or are they basically the same?

 

If it was a burn type chip, no. They are burnt to a specific ECM code, there are mulitiple codes each year and don't usually mean the same thing every year.

If it was thier PTM, then probably. PTMs piggyback the signals going to the ECM and change the info it recieves.

 

I finally heard back from Hypertech. They did say that the chip is for a specific year ecm and that different emission changes for each year are really what made it different and they recommend that I not put it on my truck.

Oh well, I gess it goes back to the guy that gave it to me so he can sell it.

 

Try a superchip 1100 module if you can find one, they should have tons of flash tunes for that year of f150. I still have one from my old 95 F150 with the 4.9l, but I know it will work in the V8's as well. Heck,it even worked in my 02 f150 with a 5.4l in it.

 

I had one two, I am much happier with my Sniper tuner.
