This is more of a rant than a question, but I'd like some info, too.
I wanted to (and did) take the bed off my Ranger today. It's held down with six bolts, that come out with a T-55 driver.
My Craftsman set of Torx bits only went up to T-50, so I went out looking for a T-55. Home Depot doesn't carry any Torx bits, and Sears doesn't carry anything over T-50 (and they were out of stock on them). I finally found one at Napa, but the tool is junk. All they had was 3/8" drive, and bolts that big that have been exposed to salt that long, take a lot of force to move. Would have made my life a lot easier to use my bigger, 1/2" drive tools. And the thing is pretty twisted now; I was expecting it to break from about halfway through the second bolt by the looks of it, and the force I was exerting on it. It was only $5, and it did what I needed, but I sure don't think it would do it again!
So- where would I find good, bigger Torx bits? Since I don't think I'm likely to need anything bigger than a T-55 (at least it's the biggest I've seen on my Ranger, if I'm wrong, let me know), I should only need to buy one bit, so I'm willing to pay a few bucks for a tool that won't break.
Check with your local Snap-On or MAC dealer. You will pay more than $5 for it but you should be able to find one in there 1/2 in. drive items. You might want to check with your local Ford dealer, they might can tell you a place to get one.
