Background: I'm from Canada and it's required. I have purchased a US vehicle 2007 F150.
My questions:
1) Is the wiring in place for the DRL but the module will need to be installed?
2) If the wiring is not in place (behind the left headlight) will I need to purchase a 'kit'?
I bought the DRL adapter unit, it has 5 to 7 wires to hook up under the dash. I thought "no problem" but it turned out to be a bigger job than I wanted to do.
The truck was BRAND SPANKING NEW and could'nt bring myself to chop into the wire bundles.
The quick fix is, if you have "AUTOLAMPS" you can just put a piece of black tape on your daylight sensor, and leave the switch in the autolamp postion.
In the manual, it has a procedure to change the time that the lights stay on after you shut off the truck. I have changed mine to 1 second.
fordmanss12,
The DRL unit is a generic unit that will retro-fit many different ford products. it is a stand-alone unit. I am currently out of town. but when I get back on june 28 I can get you the part number. If it will work in your truck I don't know. If you have a paypal account I will be glad to sell it for $25.00 plus shipping.
thanks turbodog1000. I don't understand why they're saying it will work up to 08/2005 F150, but not after that. I would assume it's a generic thing, unless it won't work with the auto headlamp system...
