going on what was said to me in my last post i rebuilt the ipr started the truck let it run a little while shut it of and tried to re start it and guess what it would not restart this is like a nightmare i cant wake up from i dont know what to do now any ideas on what next this has got to end i keep replacing things to no end i have almost replaced everything in the truck and it is still not right HELP
Man I wish I had some advice but what you have is over my head. I am sure TJ or skittle or plowhand or some of these other great guys can help. It seems that c00nhunter is a good one to have on here as well and maybe a new perspective such as his can help you. Sorry, I feel for you.
BBW I guess at this point we need to be able to read the high pressure oil pressures. This can be done with a scanner or a gauge. One other thing to try is to unplug the ICP to see if it will start then. If I remember right you were have a hot restart issue right? Could you recap this issues from the start even before the DIY's and the long sitting period.
ok when i first got the truck it sat for 2 years when i got it home i found that the IDM was no good i put a new one in it was fine after a while 2 months or so it started to smoke white/blue and when i smelled the smoke it was oil so i thought the orings on the injectors were bad so i went with the diy stage 1ns and when they were in the truck did not run that well so i pulled them and put another set in that i got from the junk yard i put them in after i put new orings on them the day i did that i got it started and let it run in the yard for an hour or so shut it off and tried to restart it no go them i turned to you guys i was told most likely it was the ipr so i rebuilt that last night and put it today same thing got it started let it run shut it off and again it will not restart needless to say i an at my witts end and to top it all off today is my birthday and a nice gift would be to have my psd running right sorry this is so long
1st ? did it still smoke with the stage 1's or just poor performance?
2nd ? if it runs that bad any cel? any way your can hook up to a real scanner and get some pid data? icp and ipr while cranking would really help if i knew what they looked like. you said it ran for an hour, how did it run? did you drive it? any smoke like before?
when you shut it off then crank does it try to fire or just a nice smooth crank? any smoke while cranking?
anyway you look at it you really need a scan tool for this one,
1st check vpwr pid you need a minimum of 9 volts to the idm and pcm to run
2nd check rpm pid while cranking ford claims 100 is ok but 200or more is best, at least make sure it moves
3rd check icp signal, in order to fire the injectors you need 500 psi, if thats low check ipr duty cycle, koeo 14% cranking less than 25%(more indicates hpo leak) if its hpo concern you'lll read about 54% ipr while cranking
check that and get back with some info,
BBW, I know that you probably don't want to hear this but, I have seen fuses and relays and wiring that would go bad when they got hot. I would suggest checking the under hood fuses and relays for the IDM and PCM after the truck has run and gotten hot and will not start. If they check good, check the wiring from the IDM connector to the VC gasket connections and PCM connector. Also check the wiring from the PCM connector to the IPR. But you really need a scanner that can give you real time data so that you will know what is going on.
thanks plowhand i needed that as far as the scanner i only have acceses to a snap on one unless i bite the bullet and go to the dealer witch i do not want to do i have another icp that i got from the junk yard that i will try and another hpop if need be

?1 i did smoke a little but not much it preformaned well at high rpm not so well at low rpms at idle it was fine
?2 its not like it runs bad no cel what do you think is a real scanner it ran fine does not try to fire just a nice smooth crank no smoke
The Snap-on will do everythign you need it to do! And since I forgot earlier Happy Birthday. We'll get you a belated gift of a good running truck soon! don't give up! And don't ever mention the dealer unless you buying parts!
the snap on is fine, modis or the famous red brick doesnt matter, nothing beats a good ol' wds though, all i meant by scanner is something other than a standard code puller, best bet is run through that procedure i posted with the scanner, get some pid data and let me know what you find data wise and i can give you a better idea of where to go next
