I know this has been discussed on this forum before, and I searched the forum with no luck. Decieded it would be easier to just ask again.
Yesterday I installed my tranny temp guage so I can keep an eye on the temps. I have not pulled a loaded trailer yet, but I pulled an empty 28' cow trailer today and the temp got up to 170 and its about 80 or so today in TX.
Question is, at what temp does excessive damage begin to occur to the seals and what not where I should pull over and let the tranny cool down?
I also installed the large tru-cool cooler in-line with the stock cooler. The temp has been running about 150 just driving the pick-up around empty.
I see your in Texas, do you still have the lines going to radiator? I'm south of you I remove mine from radiator and ran with two coolers. Pulling 8500lbs I see 185 degs on hot day. Don't let it get over 210 degs.

You mean with the stock cooler (radiator) or the little one in front of the A/C radiator?, if so, Id only trash the last one, and let the stock radiator cooler, and add the tru-cool.
Its a general conscens that your temps are 100* above of the weather temp, so you are 10 below of the "normal". Never let the tranny go more than 210*
I with the tru-cool max also have 150 driving around empty.
I hope this helps.
