i was pulling a empty trailer yesterday on the highway for about an hour at 65 mph and my eot climbed up 235 and stayed there. the eot has never gotten that high before. the tranny temp got to 163 when the oil temp climbed. the coolant temp didnt climb above 188. are these normal numbers or should i be concerned? what should the temps be normally at? what do i need to do to bring the temps down?
I would flush its guts out put a coolant filter on it and go back OEM that bullet proof is cool but once the system is cleaned out you shouldnt really have to worrey but it must be flushed clean with the cooolant filter to catch anything eles
that Bullet proof is nice but not 1800.00nice IMO
sosme just go with it cuz theres no more worries at that point
with OEM you Always have to worrey aBout a rupture oil cooler and you cant always see that coming
Your eot is getting too high, but yur ect seems a little odd. How old is yur thermostat and coolant? If it is old I would start with a new thermostat and flush, it may help cool things down. Here's a thread that may help.
There are special coolant test strips that are needed to test wether or not you need the VC-9.
Blade 35 is probably right about a new cooler, but I would try the new thermostat and flush first. You will need to flush it out before an oil cooler R&R anyway. If you live in a warmer climate or have a heated garage you can just run the distilled water to see if things improve.
You may want to update yur signature, this helps everyone figure things out. Put as much info that you can.
The coolant was just replaced when the radiator was replaced. Ill replace the tstat and do a coolant flush. Ill also have to install the coolant filter. Is there a kit that's available or is it something that's made?
Many companies making kits. Most between $100-150 and use the same filter. NAPA has the filter housing and you can plumb it yourself if you want to save a few bucks. I
Liked the kit from Sinister (MKM) cool blue filter housing, high silicone hoses with the T's swedged on. Installs in a half hour. I have some pics in my gallery if you want to see the install
