It sounds to me like the manager was a real tool. Dennis, you were in the right, and unless you really like that place, I would move on to greener pastures at a new place. I would also get in touch with a regional manager and discuss this situation because as it was, you and your wife were paying customers while these non paying tramps took over the can for 30 minutes. I guess customer service takes a backseat to this guy. Again, the manager is a tool!

I would have ripped the manager for ripping me...a paying customer...then I would have put him on notice that he wouldn't have to worry about barring this paying customer as I would never be back. I would also let him know that I would be very diligent in making sure that all my friends and acquaintances knew of management's lack of courtesy toward me.

So, to answer your question. 50 - 50 on whether you were right or wrong in challenging the girls...100% right in your feeling that the manager was wrong.

Were the girls pretty?

The women were wrong to do that and fast food places suck. They are all meant for each other.

Dennis, is this the same restaurant that asked you to leave when you brought a drink from somewhere else? (That's a thread from a looong while back). The reason I ask is simply that if it is the same place, you have way more forgiveness than I do. After this more recent episode, assuming the same establishment, you are completely in the right.

As far as using the facilities w/out patronizing the business, I do it quite often on my daily commute. Of course, I'm not a gaggle of 9 women clogging up the flow of the restroom for a half hour to the detriment of the paying customers.

your right mil1ion,

i wasnt going to even post this but hell, 3 or 4 weeks ago, im standing in the frozen section of the local grocery store.

a woman about 30 feet down from me, was fishing through the items, items falling on the ground inside the freezer, takes what she wants and walks away leaving the door open about 2 feet.

she walks by and i said, you left that freezer door open, she said mind your business.

i said some class your showing, can imagine what the rest is like.

i can get sarcastic, and hold my own in many ways. i felt bad afterwards for what i said, but dang this aint no barn, and i wont stand to be talk to that way.

The one power we all have is the ability to speak with our wallets. I would take my hard earned cash somewhere else.

I would send a polite note to the corporate office.

I was working in Oxnard Ca. and staying at the Hilton. It was a small hilton, more like a courtyards. Small "bar and grill" in the lobby.

I was working long hours and did not want to drive somewhere to eat so for three nights I put up with this bartender/waitress abusing ALL of the customers. I mean nasty and rude.

One letter to corporate, they comped my stay.

i think that the manager was wrong, even if he disagreed with your statement and even if you were wrong with your statement, the manager was still wrong because of the disrespect he showed you. so any debate about who was right or wrong, to me, got trumped by the rudeness of the manager.

Dennis, not only were you 100% rite, the manager is a butthead, and the cashier that called the manager is an even bigger butthead.

and given their track record of nasty attitude, i would never go there again, and tell everyone else not to either.

first off i would also send a letter to corporate as well as the franchise owner and i would state that you will no longer be eating at their establishment for the following reasons and detail the incident with the washroom as well as the breakfast lunch issue. I would tell them that they obviously do not need your business and would also tell them you will be advising anyone you know or talk to not to eat at that store. Youll see how fast three things happen.. #1 you will be apologized to to the point where you will have chapt marks on your buttocks,,, #2 you will prolly get at least one free meal there for you and your wife.. #3 you will find the manager replaced there.. particularly if it is a franchisee... I had a manager in a local Wendys who was quite the same as you described and i Sent a letter to the franchisee as well as Wendys corporate. Both were very good about my concerns and the manager is now working at pathmark bagging groceries

Million,

First I want to say this is not meant to be an attack against you or anything, simply my opinion on the situation. You seem to be a pretty stand up guy overall.

I think pretty much everybody was wrong.

The ladies were wrong for completely taking up the bathroom especially for such a long time, and if they had no intention on purchasing anything.

The clerk was wrong for bringing it to the manager unless one of the ladies had complained to him (you didn't mention that).

The manager was wrong for yelling at you. He had every right to politley ask you not to make comments like that to his customers though.

You were wrong for making that particular comment, as it is not your business and it shoudln't matter to you if they were customers or not. However, I would have had no problem if you had made a comment to the fact that you did not appreciate them hogging the bathroom for so long and not allowing Michele to use it.

Finally just an overall comment. Why didn't Michele just use the men's room? I realize she shouldn't have to, but in an emergency I see no problem with you checking the room first and standing outside the door as she used the facilities. I have run into similar situations before and most people do not have a problem with things like that.

I agree with the others that you should try to write a letter or make a phone call to let them know about the poor customer relations displayed by the manager. It is one thing to politley ask a customer to leave other people alone, but it is another thing altogether to raise your voice and threaten.

cust svc is the most impt thing a biz can do and this fool seems to not understand that. if i needed a restroom and there were a bunch of hair flipping lipstick toting can't go five mins w/o a touch up and looking at oneself in the mirror morons in there, i'd'a walked my happy TEXAN ... tail... in there and made my way to the toilet and if they refused to get the ... heck ... out of my way after i'd said something politely about it, i'd'a flat said look here twig, you'll be licking it off the floor if you don't get the *not so polite word* out of my way with your primpin ... tail ... and i'd'a done the same for my friends and family. when all else that is reasonable fails sometimes giving them the look and a word is enough to get it accomplished and i HATE confrontation. if they blocked the door so much you cldn't even get in, put a shoulder to it and i guarantee they won't do it again and if that doesn't work then call the mgr over there and force the mgr to deal with a cust svc issue. i have no tolerance for stupid people *again my definition of stupid people is people that have the capability to use their brains and choose not to* and these *insert not to nice word here* seem to fit that definition just fine.

as for saying something to them as they're walking out, i wldn't have waited that long to say something as i've already stated. if i had, and some employee called the manager over in that situation and he didn't listen to my polite explanation, i'd'a informed him in a loud but not yelling tone of voice (mine carries VERY well w/o yelling at all) in front of his other customers that they weren't his customers they were stealing his bathroom supplies for 30 mins becuz they didn't purchase anything and if that's how he was going to treat his PAYING customers he cld damn straight count on a complaint to his superiors and the franchise and to NEVER see my money in his establishment again.

but then.. i'm a *not nice word*

as for the breakfast thing, if i'd ordered breakfast at 1020 and they brought me burgers and didn't say anything over the speaker at the time i ordered, they'd'a given me my money back or my breakfast food and wld have gotten the same expect a complaint statement becuz that's major mad BS.

even though i'm in accounting i also deal regularly with customer svc issues at work and you don't keep your customers if you keep treating them like that. unfortunately with a franchise it doesn't matter if you treat one like crap cuz one's not going really affect the biz.. specially if it's on a freeway somewhere where they get a LOT of one time customers... most people don't bother to complain, i bother and i would in this case as well.

A & W serves Breakfast until 11:00 am Monday to Sat.

Until 11:30 am on Sundays

Breakfast issue:
Michele and I had just come from the hospital from her giving blood.
We don't have a lot of money and I have A&W coupons and she loves their food. She needs handheld sandwiches and A & W is the best.

I got into the parking lost at 10:56 am.I went into the store.
There was a fella named ART standing in line without getting any attention from the counter staff.

I got their attention.
I said this gentlemen and I would like to order some food.

Art says: I would like the classic breakfast and coffee.
With Michele at my side ,I said I would like 2 breakfasts and coffee as well please.
The counter girl looks up at the clock and is shows 10:59.

Just a sec I'll check to see if it is okay.

Cook says: " It;s after 11:00 o'clock..we no serve breakfast anymore.....we serve Lunch"

I said: But the deal is A&W serves breakfast until 11:00am.The closk says 10:59.

Cook says: "My clock says past 11:00"

I said My watch and the store clock say 10:59

Back and forth..and Art ( 75 yo+) was upset as he wanted breakfast and had been waiting in line for 5 minutes.

Just as I was trying to get my point across 2 vehicles came to the drive thru and ordered burgers.

After all the arguing was done the time was now 11:05.
The owner said he saw the video tape and it shows us at 11:04 am assuming that was when we first ordered it and said he saw burger patties on the grill.

He later found out about this altercation and asked me when I am going to apologise to his cooks.

I said right after they and you apologise to Michele and I for thumbing their noses at us.

Now.... bear in mind when the old staff (that has since quit because of the turmoil at this place)... would do what was necessary for the new and valuable customers.

I haven't returned and won't.
There are at least 15 places here to eat at ...lif I don't feel like cooking.
