What does everyone think of the superchip programmer. I have a 4" straight exhaust, K&N intake, Ugraded hot and cold pipes, disconnected EGR, and removed throttle plate. I had it in the truck once but took it out cause I streched the head bolts. But kinda my fault, I towed my fifth wheel (17K) in the performance mode instead of the tow mode. I know stupid. But now new head bolts. Will it be OK to reinstall but only the tow mode?
I'm guessing you have a 6.0L. If so, there is a 6.0L forum a little further down on the main forum page. If you read around in there you will see that many people have had head stud issues when running the Superchips programmer. By far the most widely suggested programmer is the SCT Xcal II with custom tunes from Long Island Performance Diesel.
I haven't sold too many of them, but I have alway had good luck with superchips on Fords. I still prefer Sniper's Special Forces though, but that's compairing grapes to raisons.

I had the Superchips with some good performance. On the last warranty that Ford did, they reflashed my computer. As always I had to send my Superchips programer back for re-cal. When I got it back the power was just not the same. The tech at Superchips said that because of Fords new flash, the tune he gave me was the latest and that was all he could do.
I purchased the SCT insanity programer. Holy S__t ! some real power there. I then purchased and downloaded a custom extream race tune from Inovative Diesel in Maryland. Holy double s__t batman.
I think I am fighting the head stud problem now. How did you know you stretched the bolts ? Also what method did you use to change them and what was cost ? I am pushing anti-freeze out my filler cap and my exhaust smoke turns from black to a dark gray. I am not sure if the head gasket is leaking just enough to cause these problems but I guess I will find out eventually.
How much boost are you seeing John? If you are seeing boost in the 30+ psi range, and puking a lot of coolant chances are you have stretched your headbolts. The usual procedure for replacing the head studs is to remove the cab from the truck, some techs prefer to remove the engine though. I beleive most people are replacing them with ARP headstuds for around $500 (for the studs, the labor is big money).
The tell tale signs of stretched head bolts is white residue on your d-gas bottle{coolant bottle} and white residue on the underside of your hood whre the d-gas bottle is. Also my 06 6.0 had a high pitched whistle on the drivers side, obviously the head leak was on the drivers side.
