I just replaced the AC clutch on the truck since it was making noise. The AC does not blow cold air which I would suspect that there isnt enough coolant. One thing I did notice, however, is the you can hear the AC kick on then quit in a couple seconds, then on and off again. Not enough time to build up some pressure. Any ideas why it would kick on and off so quickly?
Possibly a bad A/C compressor "Kicker" switch. It's shorting out (common) and that's why the compressor is turning off and on.
The kicker switch for the compressor clutch is located under the dash above the a/c heater control panel...it mounts to the: Air Conditioning Vacuum Selector Valve Assy (19B888). This is a multi ported vacuum manifold that besides having the kicker switch, controls vacuum to the blend door motors. Available from Ford.
