02 Explorer O/D light flashing

02 Explorer O/D light flashing

My wife came home today and said the O/D light in our 02 Explorer was flashing and that it was going high in the rpm's and then shifting. I am going to drive in a few and post further. If anybody has had this problem, chime in while I'm out on a drive.

Get the codes pulled even if the MIL is off.

Could be anything from low fluid to valve body leaking to clutches/bands burnt.

P0745 code. I just pulled it. From what I'm reading it sounds like another fine piece of junk Ford put out during the Nasser era. Good old Jaque or however he spelled his name. Or was this the Billy era? I'm not sure. Either one didn't amount to much.

OK, Just drove the truck. It shifts fine between 1&2 but from 2-3 it slips and runs up the rpm's. Let off the pedal and it shifts to 3 and then through the rest smooth. Any takers on what's up?

Same thing happenned to me last year. Hate to say I had my tranny rebuilt for a bargain price of 1900.00. Only had 50,000 miles on it.

YUP, that's what the dealer told me today. I have a broken band in the tranny. Hate to say it but this is going to be my last Ford for a while.

Dont you have a BBB, state Auto Dealer Assoc or State Attorney you can go to for assistance.

Or, maybe a letter to the editor of the local newspaper.

They dumped a bad tranny on you.

BTW, was there any indication that the tranny had been worked on recently (clean pan, shiny bolts).
