Go to page 5 and that will explain your question on the drill bit sizes

The begining of the article addresses Pod Prep and paint.

r = 0.339"

5/16 = 0.3125"

21/64 = 0.328"

The "r" bit is the proper bit to use, a 21/64 can be substituted, but you must becareful not to break off the tap in the hole. A 5/16 in my opinion is to small to tap with as it is to easy to damage the threads or break the tap. Get the proper "r" bit as recommended by the Tap size and it makes things much easier.

captain...thanks man

...and Blackhat is correct, it takes a little more effort to tap after using 21/64 drill bit, but it is doable because it is relatively close to the Type R" in size.

Kinda on the same subject! Does anyone make an electrical boost gauge, one that you just plug in to wiring harness somewhere? Much like the Edge display does.
All I can seem to find is the drill and tap type with the vacuum hose route.

Yes, there is the Bully Dog Outlook Monitor and the Quadzilla Commander, both are just electronic gauge monitors that tap into the map sensor. The drill and tap method is little more accurate, but the electronic tap at the map sensor will be close enough.

Hope this helps

Thanks blackhat, but I was thinking more on the lines of a stand alone 2" gauges. Already have pyro, was wanting to add a boost gauge. Just thought maybe someone made an electrical one.

Well I will tell your this, it would probably take you longer to wire the connection in than it would to remove the intake elbow and drill and tap it and reinstall it. Like Blackhat mentioned it is more accurate in 2 ways, the readout (mine is about 2-4 psi difference and the sensativity, the one in the intake elbow reacts quicker than the one in the dash.

Most of the major gauge makers make boost gauges, ie Isspro, Auto Meter etc. You can get them from any dealer. LIPD has them www.lidiesel.com

Hope this helps
