16 point 5/16 socket - who makes one?

I am pulling my engine down to do some repair (gaskets, lifters and new IP/glow plugs).

This guide says to use a 16 point 5/16" socket. IDI Fuel Injection Serviceing

Who makes 16 point sockets? Googling isn't very helpful.. getting results for 5/16 12 point or 16 mm sockets, ect. Will a local auto store carry this tool?

Craftsman, Snap-On, Napa... I went to Napa and they had one sitting on a shelf for around $4 or so. It's just a matter of looking for it.

Actually.. Now that I've had some coffee... thinking about it I think I used a 6 point socket that fit snugly, can't remember the size for the life of me though.

I think you actually need a 12 point, never heard of a 16.

Those should be 5/16 12pt heads. That what mine were on my 93. Ive never heard of a 16 pt fastener. There are oddball 8pt sockets that ive grabbed by mistake thinking they were 12pt and wondering why it wont fit, then I realize its the wrong thing.

Also, you might want to index your gear with the case, just to be on the safe side

I am an ASE certified Mechanic, believe me, the 16 point is a misprint, those are 12 point bolts.

Thank you for not being a "technician". Gives us mechanics a bad name.

12 point 5/16" did the trick. I marked the back of the case & pump, and also the gear behind the front cover - both sides. I think I'm going to end up replacing the pump so I'll have to deal with that later.
