My suggestion. Return it and build you own! you can build one not quite as fancy for about $5 tops. $10 if you need to buy wire strippers.. Install should be the same as a 10k mod here http://www.forgotton.net/mods/index.html
as far as using turn it up (actually down, less resistance is more power)as far as you can with out hating your idle and run it!
Would it be possible to do a 12K or 15 K or 18 K mod the same way the the 10K is done? If so, Is it safe? It would be cheap but I imagine we would have to watch EGT's the more we go. Possibly even wire them in parallel on the same leads and put a switch on each leg just to do some testing.
i have a switch lying around with all kinds of posts on it. i was thinking of doing that kinda like off, hi and lo. i'll wait till i get the pyro gauge first though.
The 18k is variable but the same thing can be done with any variable resistor. The lower the resistance value the more change. So a 5.4k mod makes more change than the 10k but the 5.4k also makes for a rougher idle.
Now that I think of this maybe I am wrong. Less resistance meaning more power would mean you have the most power when the 10k mod isn't in there! Now I have confused myself! I think the lowest I have heard of people going with good results is 5.4k. I hope somebody who has not confused themselves chimes in here!
Just brainstorming... with factory it fires every 20,000th of a second or is it FOR 20,000 of a second and the 10K mod essentially doubles that which means @&#&%%^*$#&^*^%.
it doesn't change the timing, just the pressure at which the fuel is injected. the pcm still controlles the solenoids on the injectors. the 10k does the opposite of the limp mode. the limp mode defaults the pressure down to i don't know what exactly. disclaimer-i know all this from medium duty CAT engines which use the exact same technology. there may be minute details of difference between them, like injector size and the currents and pressures used. the hpop and ipr are the same. actually CAT allowed international to use this technology and sort of "field test" it for them so they could see it did, so i was told by a guy who's worked for CAT forever.
After runnin the 18k for a week or 2 I love it. Big diffrence in torque adn power pulling and at high way speed. I like the fact that it doesn't effect my idle at all like the 10 k will. My fuel milage went from mid 14s to 16-17mpg

Yeap thats are good news. Where did you buy it?, was easy to install? The cost?
