ok, 1989 turbo 7.3L, F350 crew cab, rear barkes have that ABS unit inline corrrect its that big block on the frame right under the drivers seat area? well i think it is either seized or broken or somehting but everything is new in truck rear cylinders on drum, new lines, new master cylinder old booster tho. but i have a question if i eliminated that ABS unit and put in a "tee" to give each side equal pressure would this be a problem?? anything wrong with doing this, truck is always loaded 10,000 lbs and if u REALLY need to stop u should probaly say a prayer . :-) and i already bleed lines sucked them full whole nine yards but no improvement.
thanks guys
yes i follow you one in and one out but this is like a metering valve if you will, so if the valve is clogged or rusted or stuck or whatever or somehting wont this not allow the right amount of pressure to reach the rear brake inhibiting the stopping power in the rear, some guys say there is a lever on the axle that as you load the truck the lever gets pushed down so the valve gets opened more so when you load the truck more brake pressure goes tot he rear = more stopping power when loaded and less in rear when light loaded so rear wheels wont lock up.do you follow?? i just want to take out the ABS unit which is under truck i dont want it nor do i think that back in 1989 the ABS units actually did anything at all. maybe so but the truck is just a work truck so i dont care.
so all in all would it be ok to just take the valve out? and just hook the lines form the master cylinder up to the rear line and be direct eliminating the ABS completely.
You bleed the brake cylinders, did you bleed the RABs valve....... 2 rear cylinders, RABs, then fronts. Does your truck have the height sensing valve attached to the rear axle......... more load more brakes....... the activation rods sometimes break/rust off and your rear brakes will be at wrong activation pressures when required.
Some have removed the RABs....... with differing results....... on wet/snowy roads doughnuts to left or right are possible in panic stops. Possible insurance problems in an accident....if found deleted.
