Gear Indicator mounting position
Gear Indicator mounting position
I pulled apart my dash to see if my speedo cable was connected (it was) and found out why my gear selector was not working in the dash. The cable is not attached to anything. can anyone tell me where I attach this to on the column. thank you
I have a 1989 F250 4x4 with a diesel 7.3 btw if that helps

I replaced the gear shift indicator on my `87F250 about a year ago. As I remember the little cable runs down from the dash and the outer piece ends with a small plastic plate that attaches to the outer steering column tube with a single screw. The inner cable ends in a loop which fits over a "spud" on the gear shift lever mount. To get at the dash you would have had to remove the cylindrical plastic trim piece over the steering column just below the dash, the fixings for the indicator cable are under this.

Hmmm, i had it kind of mounted like this. I found one screw whole that was under that plastic sleeve. I put a screw into it and tried shifting but it didnt really do anything. I will have to find a picture of this somewhere I think. I think im losing something in the translation.
Thanks for the help though!
