im replacing my forward parking cable on my 1997 f150 v6 manual trans, the end attached to the pedal. i cant get a straight shot on the bolts under the dash to pull the assembly out to replace the cable. im using a chilton repair manual. ive tried taking my dash off to get the fuse box out of the way. can ne one help me there has to be an easier way.
You are pretty much gonna have to pull the fuse box,, it isnt too bad to get out,, the plugs on the GEM module can be a pain in the ***. But the sad reality is if you want to get the Park brake contoller out that is what has to be done
Putting a new cable in an old unit is a pain in the ***, most of the time when i replace them i am installing a new controller and cable so it goes in as one unit. If i remember right you have to wind it and set a pin in it and then you can attach the new cable. The new units come pre wound and after you hook up all the cables you pull the pin.
