Well...the AC door seems to be stuck and is set to defrost on my 2000 Ranger. Since the warm weather is here I thought it might be nice to get this working properly. The AC still kicks on if you turn the dial but it only come out at the windshield. It would be nice to have it coming through the dash vents. I havent tore into it yet since I dont know alot about how it works. Not sure if it could be the door itself or the switch or what. I figured I'd turn to the pros here and see what you guys have to suggest. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Monsterbaby !!!! The blend door fix link in the tech link is Broken. (I just like the barf emoticon, hee hee)
Sorry NitroRcFan, sounds like you've got the dreaded blend door problem.. There's a thread out there somewhere out there(sounds like a musical), that deals with it. There 'used to be' a link to the fix for it in the tech thread. I'm sure someone will chime in soon enough to give the details. Hang in there
I believe the blend door controls the air temp, not air flow. Before I fixed my blend door, I could still control which vents air blew out of. It just blew hot air regardless of temp setting.
Hmmm.....That does raise a good point. I can change the temp but not where the air comes out. I wonder if that is something different than what that article describes?
I don't know about the Ranger in particular since I just got mine, but typically the air direction is changed by vacuum actuators. The diaphragm in the actuator may have developed a leak or the vacuum lines may have a leak.
