ac stuck on?

I have a 03 f350 with the 7.3 in it. Seems like my ac is stuck on. I have just the vent on, no ac (per the dial anyway...), but it is blowing what is definitely ac. When I switch it to ac, nothing happens - just keeps blowing ac as it should, back to vent and still have ac. Any ideas?

(BTW - whoever posted that power door lock fix thing - thanks! Mine pass side just crapped out, nice to see how to service an "unserviceable" actuator as opposed to giving my good friends at the dealer any dough!)

Any help or ideas on the ac thing is appreciated!

You have a vacuum leak somewhere. If it is 4 wheel drive it is probabily leaking around the vacuum line to the front tire.

It wont leak there, unless he engages the 4x4 via the switch.

Ya i know you have the4x4 switch (ESOF),but the only reason you would have to look at the front hubs and lines for a vac leak,is if you flipped the switch (ESOF) and the air goes to the defrost position, instead of doing what you have the hvac switch set to.
I think that theres a switch, somewhere that malfunctioning. But it has nothing to do with the lines going to the front hubs and your problem has nothing to do with vac.

Sorry guys but this does not sound like a vac problem at all. If the A/C compressor is running all the time it would be electrical. Have you tried it on floor mode and what are the results? Have you looked under the hood and verified that the compressor is engaged all the time? If the compressor is actually stuck on I would start with checking for a stuck relay.

I agree,i think its electrical.Or even vac lines under the dash, but not to the hubs.

Just went out and tried all the settings - regular ac and max ac is normal - compressor on. When I switch to just vent on either JUST floor or JUST dash vents, no compressor. When I use vents and put on the setting for floor AND dash - compressor...seems like you guys that said switch / elec hit it. Sound like the switch went south?

No that is the way it is supposed to work. There is nothing wrong with your switch.

seriously? my bad. I though ac was not on for dash, feet, and dash/feet settings, just on for ac, max ac and defroster settings. Guess I have the afternoon free now (grin)!

I am glad that it is that way because when I am towing it will get hot down at my feet. That is usually the setting I use with the a/c.
