VIN Help
I have just brought home a 65 Styleside shortbed with a 390 4 speed. It has some problems but the it runs great. I believe the owner stated the 390 was from a 68? F-250 pickup originally. If one of you wise men could discipher the VIN for me, I would appreciate it since my past experiences have been on bow ties. The VIN is F10DK666392 and the other info is WB 129, Color F, Body 28, Trans N, and Axle 07. I would really appreciate some help.

F10 = F100
D = 352 2V (no 390's till 1968)
K = Kansas City Assembly Plant
666392 = 1965
WB 129 = 129" Wheelbase (this WB uses the 8' LONG bed, short bed WB is 115")
Color F = (not listed for 1965, may be a special color..if blue, it's Acadian Blue used in 1966)
Body 28 = (wrong code for body, see below)
Trans N = 4 Speed New Process 435
Axle 07 = Ford WDM-A 9 Inch / 3.25-1 / 3300 lb Rear Axle Capacity
The body code most likely will have a letter as the first digit. The other two digits are 81. The first digit is the interior color and type and pattern of the fabric, and also refers to what the 81 means: Standard or Custom Cab.
Your truck is a late 1965, and Ford offered special colors in the springtime, so that might mean why there's no F listed in the parts catalog color chart for 1965, but IS listed for 1966. (rather common, btw)
