O8 hybrid I ordered came in today. With the slate black metallic & extra chrome it looks like a limo. Will pick up monday. That makes exactly two months since ordering 9 May.

Congrats. You will enjoy driving it more and more the longer you have it. Don't pay any attention to the mileage for the first 2-3000 miles. These cars have a noticeable, substantial improvement in mileage as they get broken in.

New baby at home. Quality & construction looks superior to what I have seen in past autos. The book states it will run up to 40 mph on the electric motor. Is that what most other hybrid owners experience?

40 mph is very doable in electric mode - just don't expect it until it (and you as driver) has broken in some. That said, to get to 40 mph in EV from a start takes a very light pedal and is not always practical. But, when decelerating it will drop into EV once you get below 40 mph and it is pretty easy to get it to stay electric only. Takes a little practice.

Feel free to experiment using the low gear setting - it isn't a gear but a computer setting that gives a little more regeneration. It kinda simulates a downshift in a manual transmission. You can drive an any speed in L and it won't hurt a thing. I kinda like using it when I am on local roads - let off the accelerator a bit and the regen slows you down nicely.

Good luck and enjoy the car. It's fun to drive and your mileage will continue to improve the longer you own it.
